Reflect to create…
Think to do
All creative people who want to engage with the value of craftsmanship, with enterprises and Sardinian culture. It is not necessary to be Sardinian or be resident in Sardinia to participate in this design competition. Sardinia is worth your time and a visit.
A degree is not necessary to express one’s creativity, it is however required that the proposed products are the result of study and development in order to be produced and marketed in the international market.
Sardinian culture, Sardinian artisanal production systems and companies must be a source of inspiration and future partner for the development of the designed product. In the report or in the tables it is possible to include and indicate a craftsperson or enterprise to develop the project.
We are looking for design products that are competitive on the international market and which reinterpret the chosen theme in the current competing edition. The use of an enterprise and / or craftspeople, techniques, technologies present in the Sardinian territory must be taken into consideration and used to the extent chosen by the competitor.
There are no limits, but viable and sustainable solutions must be used. Suggesting non-transportable materials, complex and expensive processes, combining too many materials without any logical and functional criteria and developing solutions far from local production opportunities will be considered in the evaluation process of the international jury. It is possible to use multiple materials and processes by several craftspeople or enterprises.
No, we are looking for high design products that find quality in production, in local materials and in contemporary forms and functions, a line and style of products for the international market.
Products that can “speak Sardinian” but with style … without having to be dressed in traditional costume and a branch of myrtle in hand.
No, the competitor will be able to enhance the production scenarios of the Sardinian territory thanks to the documents, interviews or links published on the competition page and social media. This set will help the competitors to acquire knowledge that can support them in developing the project.
The product must be original and workable. It is not possible to create works of art, we are looking for functional products that are usable and connect to places and people in some way, objects that can also be simple and ingenious. It is possible to create technological objects with local productions, if in line with the theme of the edition.
The process of participation with the layout of the tables are described in the competition announcement. The project tables must be represented only within the layout provided in the announcement.

No, it is not required.
They are not part of the jury. The craftspeople, interviewed or mentioned on the website or in promotional activities of the competition, have been chosen as the primary examples of good practice, which we propose to get to know in order to better understand the know-how culture of the region. The island of Sardinia is rich of craftspeople that we are gradually contacting to further collate views and opinions, and to promote the profession.
